The name “Ailée”, meaning “winged” in French, appears on heavy-duty brass zippers produced by the French manufacturer La Fermeture Ailée. The company was founded in 1957 and ceased operations in 1988. Vintage zipper collectors have noted examples of “ECLAIR Ailée” brass zippers dating from the 1950s through the 1970s in France. Because the company closed in 1988, the presence of an “Ailée” zipper strongly suggests that the garment was produced before or around that time.
